History


           

The Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology is an academic unit under Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. At present, the faculty office is located in the Engineering and Industrial Technology Building (Building 43). Since its establishment, the faculty has continuously developed and offered various academic programs until it was officially established as a faculty-level unit. Its historical development can be summarized chronologically as follows:

Academic Year 1979 (B.E. 2522)
Courses in Handicraft Education and Industrial Arts were first offered under the Faculty of Science.

Academic Year 1984 (B.E. 2527)
An Associate Degree in Science program was introduced under the Faculty of Construction Technology and the Faculty of Printing Technology. During this period, the parent faculty was renamed the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Faculty of Industrial Arts was dissolved due to an oversupply of teachers in the labor market.

Academic Year 1990 (B.E. 2533)
The university began offering a four-year Bachelor of Science program in Industrial Product Design and a two-year continuing Bachelor of Education program in Industrial Trades.

B.E. 2538 (1995)
The institution was granted a new royal name, changing its status from Suan Sunandha Teachers College to Suan Sunandha Rajabhat Institute.

Academic Year 1996 (B.E. 2539)
An Associate Degree in Science (two-year program) in Printing Technology was introduced.

Academic Year 1997 (B.E. 2540)
An Associate Degree in Science (two-year program) in Electronics was introduced.

Academic Year 1998 (B.E. 2541)
An Associate Degree in Science (two-year program) in Electrical Technology was introduced.

Academic Year 1999 (B.E. 2542)
A two-year continuing Bachelor’s Degree program in Industrial Technology under the Faculty of Science was launched, offering specializations in Architectural Technology and Industrial Management Technology.

Academic Year 2002 (B.E. 2545)
A two-year continuing Bachelor’s Degree program in Industrial Technology with a specialization in Electronics Technology was introduced.

Academic Year 2003 (B.E. 2546)
A two-year continuing Bachelor’s Degree program in Industrial Technology with a specialization in Industrial Electrical Technology was introduced.

B.E. 2547 (2004)
Suan Sunandha Rajabhat Institute was officially elevated to Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University in accordance with the Rajabhat University Act B.E. 2547 (2004).

B.E. 2548 (2005)
The Faculty of Industrial Technology was formally established as a faculty-level academic unit under the university’s administrative restructuring.

In the same year, the university began offering a Master’s Degree in Technology Management, along with two Bachelor’s Degree programs: Industrial Management Technology and Computer for Architectural Works.

B.E. 2549 (2006)
Five undergraduate programs were introduced:

  • Building Management Technology
  • Safety Technology and Occupational Health
  • Electrical Technology
  • Electronic Technology
  • Graphic and Multimedia Design

B.E. 2553 (2010)
Three additional undergraduate programs were established:

  • Printing and Packaging Design (B.Sc.)
  • Interior and Exhibition Design (B.Sc.)
  • Computer Engineering (B.Eng.), which became the first engineering program offered by Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.

B.E. 2555 (2012)
The Metrology and Quality Systems undergraduate program was introduced.

B.E. 2557 (2014)
The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) in Architecture, a five-year program, was launched.

B.E. 2559 (2016)
The Bachelor of Architecture program was later established as part of the College of Architecture, resulting in the Architecture program being transferred to the new college. During the same period, the Bachelor of Science curriculum was revised as follows:

  • Electrical Technology Program with three specializations:
    - Industrial Electrical Technology
    - Electronic Technology
    - Energy Technology
  • Printing Industry Program with three specializations:
    - Printing Technology
    - Printing Design
    - Printing Industry Management

B.E. 2560 (2017)
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Product Design program was revised to include two specializations:

- Industrial Product Design

- Design Innovation and Creative Business

At that time, the Faculty of Industrial Technology offered 11 academic programs with 8 specializations.

B.E. 2567 (2024)
The Faculty of Industrial Technology was officially renamed the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. The faculty now offers 4 academic curricula with 10 majors as follows:

B.E. 2568 (2025)
The faculty revised the names of two academic programs:

  • Exhibition Design and Three-Dimensional Animation was renamed Exhibition and Creative Media Design.
  • Industrial Design and Packaging was renamed Product Packaging and Innovation Design.
